Use: For detection of Bacillus cereus in foods. The

medium contains 5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indoxyl-myo

inositol-1-phosphate, which changes from colorless

to turquoise upon enzymatic cleavage. B. cereus, B.

mycoides, B. thuringiensis, and B. weihenstephanen

sis secrete phosphatidylinositol phospholipase C and

so grow as turquoise colonies with species-specific

morphologies.
