(Xylose Yeast Extract Peptone Broth)

Composition per liter:

Xylose...............................................................10.0g

Yeast extract......................................................10.0g

Peptone .............................................................10.0g

MgSO4·7H2O......................................................0.2g

MnSO4·4H2O....................................................0.01g

FeSO4·7H2O......................................................0.01g

NaCl..................................................................0.01g

pH 6.8 ± 0.2 at 25°C

Preparation of Medium: Add components to

distilled/deionized water and bring volume to 1.0L.

Mix thoroughly. Distribute into screw-capped test

tubes. Autoclave for 15 min at 15 psi pressure–

121°C.

Use: For the cultivation of Lactobacillus vaccino

stercus and other microorganisms that utilize xylose

as a carbon source.
