Alkaline Peptone Water

(BAM M10)

Composition per liter:

NaCl..................................................................10.0g

Peptone .............................................................10.0g

pH 8.5 ± 0.2 at 25°C

Preparation of Medium: Add components to

distilled/deionized water and bring volume to 1.0L.

Mix thoroughly. Adjust pH to 8.5. Distribute into

tubes or flasks. Autoclave for 10 min at 15 psi pres

sure–121°C.

Use: For the cultivation and transport of Vibrio chol

erae and other Vibrio species from foods.
