Composition per liter:

Pancreatic digest of casein................................20.0g

Glucose .............................................................10.0g

Bromcresol Purple ............................................0.04g

pH 6.7 ± 0.2 at 25°C

Preparation of Medium: Add components to dis

tilled/deionized water and bring volume to 1.0L. Mix

thoroughly. Distribute into tubes or flasks. Autoclave

for 15 min at 15 psi pressure–121°C.

Use: For the isolation, cultivation, and enumeration

of “flat-sour” thermophiles and mesophiles in food

by the membrane filter technique. Acid-producing

microorganisms such as “flat-sour” thermophiles

turn the medium yellow.
