Composition per liter:

NaCl................................................................100.0g

Neutral ox-heart tissue......................................30.0g

Beef extract.......................................................10.0g

Peptone..............................................................10.0g

pH 7.6 ± 0.2 at 25°C

Source: This medium is available as tablets from

Oxoid.

Preparation of Medium: Add components to

distilled/deionized water and bring volume to 1.0L.

Mix thoroughly. Distribute into tubes or flasks. Auto

clave for 15 min at 15 psi pressure–121°C.

Use: For the isolation and cultivation of staphylo

cocci from specimens with a mixed flora such as fe

cal specimens, especially during the investigation of

staphylococcal food poisoning.
