Trypticase Soy Tryptose Broth

Composition per liter:

Pancreatic digest of casein................................13.5g

Peptic digest of animal tissue..............................5.0g

NaCl....................................................................5.0g

Yeast extract........................................................3.0g

Glucose .............................................................1.75g

Papaic digest of soybean meal............................1.5g

K2HPO4.............................................................1.25g

pH 7.2 ± 0.2 at 25°C

Preparation of Medium: Add components to

distilled/deionized water and bring volume to 1.0L.

Mix thoroughly. Distribute into tubes in 5.0mL vol

umes. Autoclave for 15 min at 15 psi pressure–

121°C.

Use: For the enrichment of Salmonella species from

foods.
