Composition per 1050.0mL:
Beef heart, infusion from............................................................25.0g
Agar............................................................................................14.0g
Peptone .........................................................................................5.0g
NaCl..............................................................................................2.5g
Glucose.........................................................................................1.0g
Yeast extract solution.............................................................100.0mL
Horse serum.............................................................................50.0mL
Yeast Extract Solution:
Composition per liter:
Baker’s yeast.............................................................................250.0g
Preparation of Yeast Extract Solution:  Add Baker’s yeast to distilled/deionized water and bring volume to 1.0L. Mix thoroughly. Gently heat and bring to boiling. Filter through a paper filter. Adjust pH to 8.0. Filter through a Seitz filter. Store at −20°C. Check sterility before using.

Preparation of Medium: Add components, except yeast extract solution and horse serum, to distilled/deionized water and bring volume to 850.0mL. Mix thoroughly. Gently heat and bring to boiling. Autoclave for 15 min at 15 psi pressure–121°C. Cool to 50°–55°C. Aseptically add 100.0mL of sterile yeast extract solution and 50.0mL of sterile horse serum. Mix thoroughly. Pour into sterile Petri dishes or distribute into sterile tubes.
Use:  For the cultivation and maintenance of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Haemophilus actinomycetemcomitans, Haemophilus haemoglobinophilus, Haemophilus paragallinarum, Haemophilus paraphrophilus, Haemophilus parasuis, Haemophilus segnis, Pasteurella avium, Pasteurella volantinum, and Taylorella equigenitalis.
